Official says EU prolongs economic sanctions against Russia

BRUSSELS, Jun 25 (PRIME) -- The E.U. has decided to prolong economic sanctions against Russia, President of the European Council Charles Michel said in his Twitter account on Friday.

“We have rolled over our economic sanctions against Russia: Moscow must do its part to ensure full implementation of Minsk Agreements. We will explore formats and conditionalities of dialogue,” the official said.

In 2014, relations between Russia and the West deteriorated to their worse since the Cold War due to a military conflict in Ukraine. The West introduced sanctions against some Russian individuals and firms and further against the energy and banking sectors. In response, Russia limited food imports from some countries, including the U.S., the E.U., Canada, Australia, and Norway.
